Top 6 Young Emerging Talents From IPL 2023 Who Shocked The Cricketing World

IPL 2023 has reached its final stage of the tournament. This year the event introduced a new rules in the game called Impact Player. The effect of it was tremendous but slightly favored the batters. Teams started to score 200+ runs with ease. This made the games as entertaining as ever. However this season fans did not get to see any super over.

The Chennai Super Kings have reached the finals and will face the Gujarat Titans in a final that could be one for the ages. It will be held in the latter’s’ home, though there are no real favourites in a final.

There were plenty of young talents on show this year as we look at 6 best from them!!

Yashasvi Jaiswal – It is nearly impossible to outshine Jos Buttler in the T20 format. Especially with the bat for sure. But right through the IPL 2023 tournament, Yashasvi Jaiswal has just done that. And he has been without a doubt, the find of the tournament for the Rajasthan Royals. And if Shubman Gill wasn’t in the form that he is in now, Jaiswal would have surely broken many more barriers.

He scored 625 runs in 14 matches at an average of 48.07. This included one century and five half-centuries, with a best of 124. His strike rate was 163.61 and his performances in IPL 2023 have not gone unnoticed. He is now part of the standby list for the WTC final squad. That surely means something. And it is HUGE!!

Suyash Sharma – Kolkata Knight Riders found another talented spinner in their ranks this year. The 19 year old was picked as a net bowler for KKR but after impressing in practice games he was called up in the first XI. In his debut match against Royal Challengers Bangalore Suyash picked up 3 wickets at Eden Gardens to help KKR win the game. Overall 9 wickets from 7 games is a very good tally for the young kid.

Sai Sudharshan – The young left handed batter impressed in this season for the defending champions Gujarat Titans. Coming in at number 3, Sai played some sensible innings for the team and scored 223 runs from 6 matches so far. However, his fitness issues (from what we know so far) have been a serious problem.

He has been in and out of the team and has been under-utilized, some would feel. At the end of the day, the player has just started and has a long way to go.

Prabhsimran Singh – India currently have plenty of young talents when it comes to opening batters. PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh joins the list with an impressive 358 runs from 14 matches with a strike rate of 150.42. PBKS have again failed to qualify for the play offs despite this contribution at the top alongside Shikhar Dhawan.

Matheesha Pathirana – This young pace bowling sensation from Sri Lanka is earning reputation as Malinga 2.0. His slinging arm action has been difficult to pick as he has been the go to bowler at the death overs for MS Dhoni. Pathirana has 17 wickets from 11 matches this year so far.

He has made his mentor proud and MS Dhoni has made the best use of his skills. Keeping that in mind, this is just the start. The world is yet to witness the full potential of Matheesha Pathirana for sure!!

Tilak Varma – Mumbai Indians have found yet another gem in their batting line up. The 20 year old left handed batter has 274 runs to his name from just 9 matches (not counting the 2nd eliminator). He was looking good in the game against the Gujarat Titans too. However, he was dismissed by some smart bowling.

Tilak Varma scored a quick-fire 43 off 14 balls. He hit five 4s and three 6s. This was before he was bowled by spin-wizard Rashid Khan. The fall of his wicket nearly meant the end of the match, though his team-mates continued to fight an impossible battle.

Other mentions that have made a name for themselves, but do not fit the “young” age bracket or have been capped for their country-

Rahul Tewatia, Rinku Singh, Heinrich Klaasen, Akash Madhwal, Piyush Chawla, Shubman Gill, Ajinkya Rahane
