Will we get a new IPL champion this time?

Out of the eight IPL teams, three franchises have never won an IPL trophy. They are Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. RCB and DC have shown some tremendous character so far by winning five and four games out of their 6 matches respectively. PBKS, on the other hand, have just won two matches.

We are almost halfway into the tournament and with RCB and DC in the top four, one can expect some miracle this time. Delhi Capitals were terrific in the last year’s IPL where they lost the final against the favourites Mumbai Indians. This time, the story could be different with the form they are in.

Both RCB and DC recently met in a remarkable clash where Kohli’s men managed to win by just 1 run. DC star Shimron Hetmyer was on a different level altogether as he gave heartbreak to every RCBian with his superb innings of 53 off just 25 deliveries. Skipper Rishabh Pant too scored a half-century that went in vain.

Apart from these two sides, Punjab Kings are heavily dependent on KL Rahul for their first-ever IPL trophy. They do have a star-studded line-up but the kings have still lost their last three encounters. If they lost another two from here onwards, they might not be able to reach the playoffs. Christopher Henry Gayle has not fired yet in the tournament. If they want to make it to the top four, they have to be on the winning track as soon as they can. Their next two games are against RCB and DC only on April 30 and May 2 respectively. They do not have any option but to beat them to remain alive in the tournament.

These three teams (DC, RCB, and PBKS) are trying their level best to win an IPL trophy. This is the perfect chance for them to grab it from the hands of Mumbai Indians. However, the current holder MI too are struggling this time. Though they are in the top four with two wins out of five, the strength of Rohit Sharma’s team is still not visible so far.

Who do you think can lift the trophy this time?

I call myself as one of the biggest Sachin Tendulkar fans in this world. Watched every single game when he played but was completely away from the sport for couple of months, when he hung up his boots in 2013. I believe that Cricket is an emotion and penning down my thoughts towards the game is what I'm known for. Cheers to life and Cricket..
