IPL Update Sunday Round-Up: LSG On A Winning Roll; MSD Back As Captain, CSK Wins

Two exciting matches of cricket were on show on Sunday in the Indian Premier League. Lucknow Super Giants continued their winning momentum after beating Delhi Capitals by 6 runs. KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first in the first-day game at Wankhede this season. The skipper led the team scoring 77 off 51 to help LSG post 195. Delhi lost their in-form openers early before Pant and Marsh settled the chase. But the brilliance of Mohsin Khan restricted DC after picking 4 wickets for just 16.

Rahul and Hooda’s 95 run stand –

QDK and Rahul gave LSG a solid start against DC. After the South African batter departed in the 5th over, KL Rahul (77 off 51) took over the responsibility again and built an important second-wicket partnership with Deepak Hooda who scored 52 off 34. Rahul smashed 4 boundaries and 5 massive sixes in his innings and now he is second on the list of the Orange cap.

Mohsin Khan’s 4 wicket haul –

In a ground where it is very difficult to defend, Mohsin Khan put in a masterclass show as almost all LSG bowlers gone for plenty. The left-handed pacer picked up an in-form David Warner in the 3rd over to push DC on the backfoot at the beginning. Not only that, Mohsin picked up well-set Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell at a crucial stage of the game where both were looking dangerous.

IPL Update: What Happened In The Second Match Of The Night?

In the night game, all focus was on MS Dhoni as he returned as skipper of CSK again. CSK are in 9th position in the table. Ravindra Jadeja could help them win two out of 8 games as skipper and decided to quit the leadership. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are in a much better position in the standings than CSK, won the toss and elected to field first. It was complete domination from the CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway as they smashed a record opening stand of 182 runs.

CSK posted 202 against a quality SRH bowling attack that looked a bit off-colour last night. Coming on to chase, Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson gave SRH a brilliant start. After their dismissal, the asking rate keep growing, in the end, they fell short by 13 runs.

Record opening stand between Gaikwad and Conway –

Ruturaj looked like finding his last year’s form under MSD again as the 25-year-old opener smashed a brilliant 99 off 57 balls. Conway on the other hand remained unbeaten on 85 off 55 balls. Both the openers put up a 182 runs opening stand which was indeed a match-winning one.

Mukesh Choudhary’s match-winning 4 for –

The left-arm pacer is growing every game in the absence of Deepak Chahar. After missing a sitter of Abhishek Sharma, Mukesh came back strong to pick his wicket in his next spell. He also picked up Rahul Tripathy for a duck and finished his spell with 4/46.

    And Gaikwad has entered in fastest 1000 runs in IPl History.
    As Usual Mukesh Choudhary showed his best in taking 4 wickets in the Last match.
