IPL 2022: Five Foreign Players Who Are Captain Candidates For New Franchises

IPL 2022: Five Foreign Players Who Are Captain Candidates For New Franchises

IPL 2022: Following an announcement by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier this week, two more sides have been added to the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). There is a good chance that these two new teams will hail from the northern region of India. It has all happened in the IPL over the last 14 years, including the introduction of the Decision Review System (DRS), strategic timeouts, the appointment of international players as captains, and the emergence of many new stars. The Indian Premier League is poised to become even larger and better with the inclusion of two more sides.

There will be more skill, an increased dosage of entertainment, and plenty more cricketing action with two new sides. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has already provided several jewels to the cricketing globe. Few foreign players like David Warner, Shane Watson and Imran Tahir have taken advantage of the opportunity to rediscover themselves.

Additionally, it enables the kids to rub shoulders with the finest and to pick up a few tips and tricks along the way. However, one thing has changed in the IPL so far, and that is the decrease in the number of international players that are in charge of the teams. Only two captains, Kane Williamson and Eoin Morgan, are now in charge of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teams, respectively in the IPL. However, with the addition of two more sides, it is possible that the fortunes of the IPL may alter, as the international captains of the two new teams may be selected to lead them in the tournament.

Here are a few individuals that may be a good match to be the captains of the two new Indian Premier League teams for IPL 2022:

1. David Miller

While David Miller has been a reliable performer for South Africa in the limited-overs format, the same cannot be said about his statistics in different franchise cricket leagues across the world. The southpaw has had a whirlwind season in the Indian Premier League and has been unable to ignite the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Miller is now playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but chances for the Proteas great hitter have come at a snail’s pace for him.

However, with the arrival of new franchises in the IPL in 2022, Miller’s fortunes may alter significantly. It is anticipated that the new IPL teams will seek to recruit experienced international players along with some local players. Miller has a wealth of knowledge and experience, having played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for more than a decade. The southpaw has appeared in 86 IPL games and amassed a total of 1952 runs at a remarkable average of 33.66 during that time span.

Miller will not only provide a complete player for the team, but he will also have the ability to be a leader. His previous experience as captain of the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) shows that he knows a thing or two about the position.

2. Rilee Rossouw

Next on this new franchise captaincy list for the IPL is Rilee Rossouw. Rossouw, a former South African great player, retired from international competition and accepted a Kolpak contract. This will allow him to play for England as well as in other international leagues across the world, including the IPL. Rossouw has also appeared in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he was a member of the RCB side. Rossouw is a hard-hitting, courageous player who has the ability to alter the flow of a game in an instant. Rossouw will be a great candidate to lead his IPL side.

His latest PSL statistics are out of this world. He appeared in 31 games with the Quetta Gladiators, scoring 750 runs at a strike rate of 128.20 throughout the course of his career. He can also bat anywhere in the order, from the top three to the bottom of the order. Rossouw is adaptable and will get his IPL side off to a flying start right out of the gate.

Furthermore, through participating in a large number of franchise leagues all around the
world, Rossouw has acquired a tremendous amount of experience both on the field and in the
role of a team captain. With his easy-going demeanour and free-flowing playing style, his IPL
leadership debut will be a great match.

3. James Vince

Next on this new franchise captaincy list for the IPL is James Vince. He has the ability to captivate you with his spectacular stroke play or irritate you with his soft and sloppy dismissals. James Vince is an example of a player who was hailed as a particular talent in the England squad. However, he has failed to live up to the high standards of consistency that were set for him. James Vince will be a good choice as well.

Over the last year or two, the right-handed batter’s confidence has been restored thanks to the leadership duties. Not long ago, he was instrumental in guiding Southern Brave to victory in the first edition of the Hundred. While playing for the New York Giants, Vince scored 229 runs and consistently delivered for the side when the chips were down. It is obvious that Vince’s leadership brought out the best in him, and the new IPL clubs will have an opportunity to target him in the mega-auctions in 2022.

4. Chris Lynn

Next on this new franchise captaincy list for the IPL is Chris Lynn. Chris Lynn made headlines in the Indian Premier League when he pulled off an absolute stunner on the boundary rope to send AB de Villiers scurrying back to the pavilion in the third match. Lynn rose to prominence as a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad almost immediately. He arrived with a reputation for delivering a hard smack to the cricket ball. He also established a powerful opening combination with Sunil Narine for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He contributed to the team’s success by delivering explosive beginnings upfront.

Chris Lynn can also be tried as a captain for any of the two new franchises in IPL 2022 However, due to a deterioration in his performance, Lynn was released from the squad. He was also subsequently retained by the franchise at auction. He has also been denied chances with the MI team in the IPL. Now, it seems the side will not be able to keep him on the roster. Lynn’s explosive talent, as well as his leadership skills, make him a desirable target for the two new IPL sides in the next auction.

Lynn has a good bit of experience in the leadership role, having previously captained the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League in Australia (BBL).

5. Ben Cutting

Next on this new franchise captaincy list for the IPL is Ben Cutting. The Australian all-rounder, who has been playing in the Indian Premier League for five years, has struggled to maintain his spot in the squad owing to changes in team composition, the quota for foreign players, and the pitch and weather conditions.

Cutting has only appeared in 21 IPL games so far, and his true potential in the IPL has yet to be discovered. He has appeared in a significant number of matches in the Pakistan Super League and is a regular with the Quetta Gladiators. Ben Cutting is also a good option to be tried as a captain in any of the two franchises in IPL 2022.

In addition to his batting and bowling skills, Cutting has strong fielding ability as well as a versatile role. Aside from that, he has the potential to develop into a leader as a result of his extensive experience in various Twenty20 tournaments across the globe. Whichever franchise decides to acquire him will stand to gain significantly from his skills. He is also capable of handling high-pressure circumstances, as shown by his courageous knock in the IPL 2016 finals against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
