Five players who can take over RCB captaincy in IPL 2022

A few days back, the announcement of stepping down from T20I captaincy by Virat Kohli raised questions in the minds of millions. After stepping down from national captaincy, our king has now decided that he will not be captaining Royal Challengers Bangalore as well after this IPL.

In 2022, there will be a mega auction and RCB would be looking for their new captain. Only three players per team can be retained and Bangalore would most probably retain Kohli, de Villiers and Devdutt Paddikal. Let us have a look, who are the contenders for the captaincy role for RCB in IPL 2022:

AB de Villiers

AB can captain RCB from 2022 onwards as he is one of the most experienced players in the side to date. Mr. 360 is an integral part of the team and with his experience and support of new players, he can do the job for RCBians. Kohli himself admires him the most and will surely support him if he becomes the leader.

Devdutt Padikkal

Although Padikkal is a youngster, he has created his place in the team by performing exceptionally well last year. RCB must be searching for a young captain who can be aggressive on-field just like Virat Kohli. No doubt the left-hander will be a perfect choice if given a chance. And with the support of Kohli and AB, he can do wonders for the side.

David Warner

This mighty Australian opener can be a choice for this role. RCB will be searching for a captain in this upcoming mega auction and with Warner unlikely to be retained by SRH, he could get this opportunity. It would be interesting to see Warner’s approach if he gets this big opportunity.

Steve Smith

Steven Smith fined for slow over-rate

Steve Smith is not consistent for Delhi Capitals as they have a lot of foreign players to fill those four places. After he got released from Rajasthan Royals, DC picked him in the previous auction. Smudge has been the captain of RR in the past, therefore, he can be a great asset for RCB.

Suryakumar Yadav

SKY shines with 79*(43)

The Mumbaikar has already made his place in the Indian side and is a very passionate individual. For a long time now, the Men in Red are searching for a middle-order Indian batsman and what could be a better option than SKY. If they can snatch him from Mumbai Indians, it will be a huge boost to their batting line-up. Also, he can captain the side as he is pretty much experienced after leading his domestic team.

It is for sure that RCB will be looking for some experienced players in the upcoming auction, so they can wisely choose their captain. Let’s see if they can find their desired players or not.

I call myself as one of the biggest Sachin Tendulkar fans in this world. Watched every single game when he played but was completely away from the sport for couple of months, when he hung up his boots in 2013. I believe that Cricket is an emotion and penning down my thoughts towards the game is what I'm known for. Cheers to life and Cricket..
