DC Vs SRH; Team From The Capital Secures Comfortable Win

Delhi Capitals got a vital win against Sunrisers Hyderabad to go above them in the IPL standings. Both the teams were coming at this game after losing their last match and were desperate for two points. Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl first at CCI, Brabourne stadium. Delhi had a certain David Warner in their ranks who was playing against his former team.

The Australian batter did put in a show to smash an unbeaten 92 off 58 balls. Rovman Powell’s fireworks, in the end, took DC’s total score to 207/3. Coming on to chase, SRH lost their openers early. Markram and Pooran showed some fight but they fell well short of the target and eventually lost the game by 21 runs. It was the third defeat on the bounce for SRH after winning five on the trot and now they have slipped to 6th.

Let’s look at the talking points of the DC Vs SRH game –

David Warner has his revenge

After playing 8 years for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Warner was released by them in this year’s auction. Last year he was sacked from the captaincy and got dropped from the side as well. Plenty of motivation was there for the Australian to prove a point against them and exactly he did it. Warner smashed an unbeaten 92 from 58 balls and literally toyed with SRH bowling. The 35-year-old praised the pitch saying he knew he will get runs if he played his strokes.

“It is a really nice wicket, I’ve had some success here. I knew if I played my strokes, it was going to come off. Challenging here in Mumbai with the humidity and I was cooked there towards the back end, I am getting older. Having Rovman at the other end was amazing. I did not need extra motivation, we have seen what has happened before. It was good to get the win,” said the Australian.

Umran Malik broke his own record in DC Vs SRH match

The 22-year-old speedster broke his own record of the fastest delivery bowling at 157 Kmph against Delhi Capitals. It was the fastest ball bowled in this year’s IPL and the second-fastest overall in the tournament’s history. Apart from it, he was very expensive on the night and gave away 52 runs from his 4 overs without taking a wicket.

Rovman Powell in great form

After starting the season slowly by his standards, the big-hitting Jamaican has arrived in the IPL. Powell came into bat when DC were 85/3 in the 9th over. His team needed him to score runs and Powell did it in his style. He smashed a 35 ball 67 including 6 sixes and 3 fours.

Pooran’s fifty in vain

Newly-made West Indian skipper has hit his second consecutive fifty for SRH, but unfortunately, both of them came for a losing cause. Chasing a big target of 208, SRH lost early wickets which increased the asking rate. Pooran played brilliantly for his 62 off 34 balls but it was not enough to take his side over the line.
