Bhuvneshwar Kumar
This surprised many as Bhuvneshwar Kumar is probably one of the best bowlers in the current Indian team. Besides, his ability to swing the ball both ways could keep New Zealand on the backfoot in the English conditions. Not having Bhuvi in the squad is a big blow for the team and the fans as well.
Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav is an established Indian bowler now but he has not been given enough chances in the last year and a half. This is one of the reasons for his below-average performance. With Ravindra Jadeja already in the squad, there is hardly any chance that Kuldeep will play much Test cricket even in the coming years. His googlies could have been good against the Kiwis.
Hardik Pandya
This is just like a punishment for the Indian all-rounder as he was avoiding bowling for some time now. His exclusion from the team is a clear statement that he cannot be in the side as a batsman. The power-hitter has shown some incredible performances with the bat in the past and should have been in the side at least if not in the playing XI.
