5 Positives For Team India From The ODI Series Win Against New Zealand

Team India dominated to win another bilateral series at home again after a thumping in over the Kiwis at Raipur. After white washing Sri Lanka in the ODI series last week, Rohit Sharma’s men continued their winning run against the second ranked ODI team in ICC table.

It was totally one-sided against a team that didn’t feature the likes of Kane Williamson and Tim Southee. This made things rather easy for the home side that are on a roll.

Plenty of positives to look at after this series win for Team India –

Another double ‘Centurian’ in the ranks

Shubman Gill became the youngest ever player to score an ODI double ton beating Ishan Kishan’s record. At Hyderabad, Gill batted on a different level against a quality Kiwis attack. The 23 year old smashed 3 back to back sixes against Lockie Ferguson, to reach the 200 mark. An incredible feat, when the next best score was 34 of Rohit Sharma.

Siraj- the consistent wicket taker

In Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, Siraj has cemented his spot in the Indian team with another cracking performance with the ball. Coming out to defend 349, Siraj picked up 4 crucial wickets in a batting friendly wicket at Uppal. In the second game as well, he bowled at an economy of under 2.

Kuldeep Yadav’s good form for Team India once again

The left arm chinaman bowler is in good form and continuously troubled the Kiwi batters in both the games. Three wickets in this series already, Kuldeep is taking him into contention to make it in the ODI world cup squad this year. It is high time to drop an out-of-form Chahal and bring back this left-armer, who has impressed in recent times.

Shami back among the wickets as Team India dominates with the ball

It is always good to see the spearhead of the pace attack getting wickets up front for India. Shami was nearly his best with the new ball in the second game, picked up 3. He needs to get his rhythm back before the upcoming ICC tournament. This is a great time for him to get back some form. He is the veteran pacer in this lineup and its time he took charge.

Chance of overtaking Kiwis in ODI ranking

With two wins from two, India (3) are now with the same ODI ratings with the Kiwis (2). And the hosts have a chance to overtake them winning the next game. All they need is a clean-swipe of this series and things will be in their favour. It should be easy, based on what we have seen so far. However, cricket is not a predictable game and things can turn, with the blink of an eye.
