Players that Kolkata Knight Riders might retain

Kolkata Knight Riders ended their 2021 IPL campaign on a high after being the runner-up this year. They were at 7th position at one time and bounced back tremendously by reaching the finals. Youngsters stood up for KKR in the second leg. Players like Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy contributed with their enthusiasm which helped them perform. Now, as BCCI has allowed a maximum of four retentions, there will be some tough calls that KKR management might have to make. Here are the four players that Kolkata can retain for 2022 IPL:

Sunil Narine

How can this player be left out? If KKR had to retain a single-player only, it would have been none other than this mystery spinner. He is one of the reasons why KKR reached the finals. His economical bowling and wicket-taking ability makes him even more special. It is for sure that KKR wouldn’t let him go until he himself decides to be in the auction pool. He is the only player from the squad who has been playing for KKR since his debut in 2012.

Shubman Gill

This mighty Indian opener can be the Indian batsman that KKR would want to retain. For the past few years, he has been the most consistent performer as an opener for KKR. Also, Gill is now an integral part of the Indian team as well. Let’s wait till the auction for some news and see if he is in or not.

Dinesh Karthik

Is there anyone who is unluckier than DK? Well, I think, no. He has played IPL for six different teams and performed everywhere but did not get much respect. KKR made him captain and he selflessly quit captaincy to focus on his batting. He has given some marvellous match-winning performances for Knight Riders. As he is the only wicket-keeper in the squad, so KKR might retain him. His ability to finish games is an added advantage.

Varun Chakravarthy

This mystery spinner has impressed the cricketing fraternity. KKR would be pleased to retain a player like Varun as he has performed exceptionally well for the Knight Riders. If KKR somehow drops him, there is no doubt that every IPL team would be looking to buy him. Let’s see if Kolkata retains him or not.

All the teams are pumped up for this mega auction. And Kolkata Knight Riders will try to make their squad stronger than ever. Are you all excited for this huge event?

Nawang Chugh

I call myself as one of the biggest Sachin Tendulkar fans in this world. Watched every single game when he played but was completely away from the sport for couple of months, when he hung up his boots in 2013. I believe that Cricket is an emotion and penning down my thoughts towards the game is what I'm known for. Cheers to life and Cricket..
