Needless to say, Pollard is a brilliant fielder and expects each member of his team to give nothing but 100% on the field. Pollard leads by example and is the right person to be in charge of a team that once dominated the world with flair and ruthlessness but have struggled in the big stage for more than 2 decades.
There are very few better sights in world cricket than an athletic West Indian fielder swooping elegantly on the ball and in one action picking and rocketing it straight into the keeper’s gloves or a big West Indian bowler getting the batsman helplessly fending off a bouncer only to be caught. The team that did not win anything in the past and was a subject of ridicule has started to show glimpses of brilliance. It may not be consistent yet but now you can’t just write them off.
