Just as the entire world was plunged into the depths of despair mourning the death of the Brazilian legend Pele, cricket fans in India were just one divider away from being plunged into further depths of pain as reports emerged of star India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant having met with a potentially fatal car crash in the wee hours of today morning.
While everyone initially dismissed it as a passing rumour or a fake notion, the reality and the horror of the situation came to light when all the major news houses began talking about it in detail. It was then confirmed that Pant indeed met with an accident. At around 5 am in the morning, Pant was traveling from Uttarakhand to Delhi in order to surprise his mother and spend the New Year with them before he was expected to fly to the NCA in Bengaluru to undergo strength and conditioning training before the Australia series in February.
But he lost control of his vehicle, ramming it into the divider which caused the car to catch fire. Reports further claim that Pant had the presence of mind to break the windshield and jump away from the vehicle before the fire could entirely engulf the car.
It is a well known fact that ‘MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND’!! However, some things are just not acceptable. Robbing a man who has just had an accident and is severely wounded is just plain and simple, INHUMAN!!
Further reports confirmed that Pant was alone in the vehicle and was not under the influence of alcohol while driving. On further investigation, Pant revealed that he was drowsy, and lost control of the car when he dozed off, which then led to the accident.`
With multiple reports coming out of various sources with respect to the magnitude of injuries suffered by Pant, it was not easy to deduce what exactly was the diagnosis or the extent of injuries. The only source was a series of pictures that were circulated across social media which saw Pant having multiple scars on his back, and a deep cut just above the eye. However, a couple of hours after Pant was taken to the hospital, the BCCI came out with a statement about Pant as well as his current situation.
The statement reads, ” Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasions on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and now he has been shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun, where he will undergo further scans to understand the extent of the injuries.
The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family and the medical team is in close contact with the doctors who are treating Rishabh. The board will see to it that he gets the best medical care possible and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase”.
We are all praying for Pant’s speedy recovery, and we are glad to know that he is out of danger and is in stable condition. Get well soon champ. All prayers and best wishes are with you.
