Five Deserving Pacers Who Got Dropped For Bhuvneshwar Kumar; Bad Squad Selection?

The place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently at stake in the Indian Cricket Team at this moment. Have the Indian selectors done the right thing to choose the veteran fast bowler for the T20 World Cup? They have certainly preferred to go with the more experienced player on this big stage. However, there have been good options available in the country.

Kumar was dropped for the second match against New Zealand. Here are five bowlers who could have been given a nod ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar-

1. Avesh Khan:

Avesh Khan has been phenomenal in this season’s IPL for Delhi Capitals. He has done well for his side both in India and UAE. So, he could have been a good choice in this Indian bowling unit in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Avesh Khan is currently in a good rhythm and his average speed is around 140 kmph. However, Avesh Khan has not made his debut for India in International Cricket. So, lack of exposure to International Cricket might be the reason for the selectors not to pick him for the T20 World Cup.

2. Deepak Chahar:

Deepak Chahar has done reasonably well for India in absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar Kumar in the last two years. However, he has not been able to find a place in the 15 men squad of team India in this T20 World Cup. Deepak Chahar has been quite disciplined in the powerplay overs for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Deepak Chahar is an experienced player in the International circuit too. So, his omission might not make much sense.

3. Harshal Patel:

Harshal Patel is the leading wicket-taker in this season’s IPL. He has been phenomenal for Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. His change of pace has been a mystery to the batsmen and most of those are not picked well by the batters. That’s why he has picked most of his wickets with slower balls. He has been a key figure in the side to pick up wickets in the middle overs. Indian bowling lineup lacks a genuine wicket-taking bowler in that time period of the game. Harshal Patel could have been a good addition to this side considering his current form.

4.  Mohammed Siraj:

The rise of Mohammed Siraj might be one of the best stories for Indian Cricket in the last few years. Siraj is now a much-improved bowler. He has got a nice control over his line and length in the last season’s IPL. Mohammed Siraj has already done wonders for team India in red-ball cricket. Now, it might have been the time for him to shine in white-ball cricket too. He has certainly the potential to be the X-factor for his side on any given day.

5. Chetan Sakariya:

It might be a little too early to include Chetan Sakariya in India’s bowling lineup. However, a left-arm pacer is always handy for a captain on the big stage. He is not much exposed to the International circuit. So, he could have been used as a surprise element against the opposing sides.
