Day 4 Expectations
Day 3 was said to be the biggest day for this series with England dominating the first 2 days of the test and looked all set to get closer to the win but with day 3 washed out completely things are looking slightly trickier for the hosts.
Generally, there are 3 results possible win for either of teams, draw or a tie. In this test it is looking that either England will win or it will be a draw. We predicted in what lies ahead of this test in day 3 that England needs to be patient enough in order to get wickets; with the full day washed out, we won’t be surprised if England follows an overaggressive game plan in order to get the remaining 19 wickets. West Indies on the other hand would not want to lose many wickets and they would hope that they set a good platform for the middle order batsmen by not losing too many wickets in the first session of day 4.
West Indies have potentially 2 players who can bat throughout the day with their solid technique- they are Kraigg Braithwaite and Shai Hope. Hope has to come good, he hasn’t scored that many runs in test since he got a hundred in 2017 at Headingly. For England their 4 seamers consisting of Stuart Broad, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes are really important especially in the first session; with the rain around there will be something in the pitch for the seamers. Not to forget Dominic Bess who will definitely get some kind of assistance from the rough and Joe Root can also bowl well, he is a pretty underrated off spinner: generally bowls good line and has taken wickets for England in test matches at crucial stages.
