We all are waiting to witness the iconic World Test Championship Final which is just a few days away. Team India who have been practicing in Southampton these days would be having a thought in their mind about the ongoing NZ-ENG series. Kiwis are playing their best cricket at this moment and are on the verge of winning the second Test against the hosts England. The game is just like a perfect practice match for the big encounter starting on June 18.
The Blackcaps arrived a bit earlier here for the two-match Test series versus England which indeed would help them to read the conditions well. However, the Indians too are warming themselves up and training together to get the best out of them.
Talking about Williamson & Co., they totally outplayed England in the first Test despite getting a result in their favour. The game ended in a draw but the team down under showed some marvelous performance. Southee, Wagner, Jamieson, and Boult are enjoying their bowling in these favourable English conditions. Besides, Indian batsmen are no less, players like Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and skipper Virat Kohli would be set to play against these speedsters. The icing on the cake would be the combo of Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara, who will surely disturb them with their natural game.
Lack of match practice can be a stumbling block for the Indian team as they haven’t played a Test since their bilateral series against England. Team India performed really well on their home soil as they finished the test series 3-1. Also, they haven’t played a Test in England since 2018. In the previous two encounters of the WTC finalists, New Zealand have won both that happened on their home soil in 2020. Despite losing, Kohli ‘s army remained on the top of the Test rankings. They are sitting like a king on the table since 2017.
New Zealand may have an upper hand over India but, it will be no surprise if India creates history by defeating the Kiwis in the final. What are your thoughts?
